Chelsea player ratings: Christian Pulisic stunning, but Kepa and Willian a disaster at Liverpool

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Had little to do in the first half apart from pick the ball out of his net. Could do nothing about Naby Keita's superb strike for the opening goal.

A lot of eyes will be on him again as every shot that Liverpool seemed to have went in. Not a great night. 2

Cesar Azpilicueta

Was the best player in the back three, really putting his body on the line and keeping Sadio Mane pretty quiet throughout the opening 45 minutes.

The capitulation in defence would be a real worry and Liverpool started to have more joy. But he still showed the effort and battle for the Blues. 5

Kurt Zouma

Caught out of possession a few times and was lucky to get away with it. Liverpool started to get a head of steam and they put the back three under a lot of pressure.

Another disappointment for the Roberto Firmino goal as he was completely unmarked. The defence were just all over the place at times. 4

Antonio Rudiger

Similar to Zouma in that he was caught out of possession and was lucky to get out of trouble. However, it certainly caught up with him as Liverpool started to take the Blues defence apart.

Looked very nervy at times and couldn't really control the game. Disappointing night for the German who had looked so solid on Sunday. 3

Reece James

Really strong first half as he crossed well, putting it on a plate when Mount should have done better. Drove forward well and was also strong in the challenge.

Worked well in the second half as well and got down the right flank, providing a decent outlet for the Blues to move through. 6

Jorginho

Moved the ball too slowly at times and it meant that breaks were going backwards rather than at Liverpool. Lost control of the middle of the park as well.

In the second half he really upped his tempo and effort. However, it wasn't really enough and the inadequacies came through in the end. 5

Mateo Kovacic

Had a strong start, but started to lose a grip of the midfield, meaning that Keita and Fabinho started to enjoy possession.

However, in the second half he looked the most up for the match. Chasing everything down and getting his influence on the pitch. 6

Marcos Alonso

Like James he had a bit of width on the left and was a decent outlet for the majority of the first half. However, also did very little with the ball.

In the second half he continued to provide an outlet, but didn't get close enough for the ball into the box for Firmino's effort. 5

Willian

A really poor first half. Was guilty of losing the ball for the opening Liverpool goal and a real lack of quality in the final third when in good positions. Did have the shot which led to the Chelsea opener, however.

Nothing changed in the second half. A very poor showing. 3

Olivier Giroud

Got the better of Joe Gomez in the early running, beating him in the air on several occasions. But the Liverpool defender started to get one over on him.

Continued his goalscoring form with a close range finish, but added little in the second half. 5

Mason Mount

Got into some excellent positions once again, but didn't do enough with it. Crosses overhit and not enough quality in the final third.

Didn't seem to have his usual zip in defence as well. Not his greatest night. 4

Substitutes

Emerson Palmieri (on for Alonso 88')

N/A

Callum Hudson-Odoi (on for Willian 59')

Looked sharp when he came on and helped change the outlook of the game. Really positive in his play. 8

Christian Pulisic (on for Mount 59')

Stunning run from the American for Abraham's goal. Made a huge impact. An excellent goal himself and showed his quality. 9

Tammy Abraham (on for Giroud 59')

Neat finish and ran the line well. 7
