Chelsea player ratings: Callum Hudson-Odoi impresses against Arsenal; N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic struggle

Chelsea dropped two points on Tuesday night as they were held to a 2-2 Premier League draw by rivals Arsenal.

The Blues twice led in an entertaining London derby after David Luiz's first-half challenge on Tammy Abraham allowed Jorginho to net from the penalty spot and led to a red card on the Brazilian's disastrous return to Stamford Bridge.

Cesar Azpilicueta then turned home Callum Hudson-Odoi's cross with six minutes remaining after Mikel Arteta's 10 men had equalised on the break through Gabriel Martinelli, only for some woeful defending to allow Hector Bellerin to secure a share of the spoils.

Not much he could do about either goal. Looked shaky in possession from time to time.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6

Had a tough evening against Martinelli, who scored Arsenal’s opener, but did hit back with a goal of his own.

Antonio Rudiger: 6

The better of Chelsea’s two centre-backs, but couldn’t prevent Arsenal scoring twice.

Andreas Christensen: 5

Squandered a good chance in the first half. Was booked and had a good battle with Alexandre Lacazette all night.

Emerson: 5

A quiet night for the Italian, who was booked. Beaten a few times by Nicolas Pepe, who looked lively.

N’Golo Kante: 5

Slipped at the vital moment for Arsenal’s goal. A rare mistake from a player who rarely ever puts a foot wrong.

Jorginho: 7

Scored his penalty and was neat and tidy in midfield as ever.

Mateo Kovacic: 5

Picked to start ahead of Mason Mount but failed to get going all evening. A rare off-day this season.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: 7

One of his best performances of the season and gave Bukayo Saka a torrid time all night. Beginning to look back to his best.

Tammy Abraham: 6

Missed a great chance early on from six yards out, but won Chelsea’s penalty for them.

Willian: 6

A few flashes of brilliance and skill, but not at the level he has been this season.

Subs

Ross Barkley (on ’66): 6

A few long-range shots but no real impact on the game.

Mason Mount (on ’69): 5

Only 20 minutes to state his case and failed to get into the match.

Michy Batshuayi (on ’79): 5

Brought on to try and knick a goal but wasn’t presented with any real chances.

Not used

Willy Caballero, Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso, Pedro.
