Chelsea picture special: Callum Hudson-Odoi makes England history during international break

What a fortnight it has been for Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.

When the final whistle blew at Goodison Park on March 17 the teenager was expected to join up with the England U21's for international duty after being selected for Aidy Boothroyd's squad for games against Poland and Germany.

However, everything changed 24 hours later as when he arrived in Bristol he was told to head to St George's Park to meet up with Gareth Southgate and the senior squad instead.

'Get me to next season!' - Chelsea fans go wild after Christian Pulisic's perfect finish

The Blues winger described those events as 'crazy' and he soon had his first ever training session with the senior squad which included the likes of Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane and close friend Jadon Sancho.

Not fazed by the prospect, Hudson-Odoi slotted in like he'd been around the first-team for many years and even Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson struggled to keep up with him during that training session.

Proof that Southgate didn't just included the teenager simply to make up the numbers came on the Friday against the Czech Republic in an Euro 2020 qualifier as the Blues wonderkid made his Three Lions debut as a substitute.

It was only for 20 minutes but Hudson-Odoi offered an exciting cameo and it was his shot which forced an own goal from Chelsea loanee Tamas Kalas.

"I'm definitely delighted. I want to thank everybody for helping me get here, and to get the opportunity to play is a massive feeling in front of the home crowd as well," he said after making his England debut. "Hopefully there's many more to come.

"I couldn't believe it [when I was told to get ready]. I didn't think it was real. I was looking around the crowd and everybody looked happy - I couldn't believe it. I didn't know what to do, but I was delighted, and hopefully there'll be many more to come."

To complete a whirlwind week, Hudson-Odoi made his first start for the national team three days later against Montenegro and notched his first ever assist at this level when his shot was turned home by club teammate Ross Barkley.

From St George's Park to Wembley stadium and to the Podgorica City Stadium, the cameras were with Hudson-Odoi every step of the way during his 'crazy' week with the national squad.

What Sarri said in January shows Hudson-Odoi's England display may not help Chelsea game time

The one down point from his time away with the Three Lions was the alleged racial abuse aimed at Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose against Montenegro.

Although, Hudson-Odoi did speak well when asked about the incident and demanded that the governing bodies take action.
