Chelsea open training: The exciting return of two Blues loanees and key absentees

Chelsea take on Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow night in the Europa League semi-final second leg and there were two particular players who trained with the squad.

Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James have been out on loan this season at Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic respectively, with their campaigns coming to an end at the weekend.

But their season hasn’t ended just yet, as both players were in the training session to help the first team prepare for the massive game at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night.

Neither player, unfortunately, will be eligible to play in the match or even in the last Premier League game of the season against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Every word Maurizio Sarri just said on Chelsea's transfer ban, Kante injury, Frankfurt & more

However, Maurizio Sarri did state in his press conference ahead of the match that that he would be looking at the current crop of loanees and that two or three would be interesting towards him.

Both players are tipped to have big futures, with James in particular having a stunning season with the Latics, and it was encouraging to see them involved.

Other youngsters involved in training were Billy Gilmour, Daishawn Redan and Jamie Cumming, with the latter set to be the number three goalkeeper for tomorrow’s game.

There were some big absentees from the session at Cobham as well. Of course, Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s seasons are over, but N’Golo Kante was also missing from the squad with Sarri confirming that it would be a race to have him back for the final on May 29 if the Blues got there.

Danny Drinkwater and Ethan Ampadu were the other players not taking part in the session at Cobham, with their seasons seemingly over as well.
