Chelsea open talks with Romelu Lukaku over summer transfer as new price tag set

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Thursday, June 3.

Emerson price tag set

Chelsea have reportedly set a new price tag for unwanted full-back Emerson Palmieri.

Emerson has seen little action at Stamford Bridge across this season and last, and he is very likely to leave the club this summer.

Though, it was reported earlier this week that Inter Milan would look elsewhere having been quoted £17million for the defender.

Despite that, Gazzetta dello Sport have now reported Chelsea could accept as little as £6.8m to allow Emerson to find a new club this summer.

Napoli are one of the clubs linked, while Inter and Roma have also been mentioned in recent weeks.

Batshuayi decision made

Michy Batshuayi is set to leave Chelsea permanently this summer and football.london understands at least one top-half Premier League club is interested in signing the Belgium international.

After signing a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge last summer, Batshuayi rejoined Palace on a season-long loan. He made 20 appearances under Roy Hodgson but of those only nine were starts.

Batshuayi did enough, however, to convince Roberto Martinez to select him for Belgium's Euro 2020 squad. He is currently with the Red Devils ahead of their warm-up games against Greece and Croatia.

After the European Championships, Batshuayi is expected to return to Cobham for pre-season training. Yet his long-term future lies away from Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi's contract at Chelsea expires in the summer of 2022 and football.london understands the club are hoping to recoup a fee in excess of £10m for the frontman who has impressively netted a goal every 97 minutes for the Blues.

Lukaku move

Despite reports in Italy on Tuesday claiming that Inter would not entertain any offers for the striker this summer, Chelsea have reportedly made their move for former striker Romelu Lukaku.

That is according a report by Eurosport, as cited by the Daily Star. They say that Chelsea have made contact with Lukaku's agent and are in discussions about what type of offer could convince the Belgium international to seal a shock return to west London.

Lukaku, who notched 24 goals in Serie A this season, is considered as Inter's star asset, meaning it would take a big-money bid to allow him to leave, even though their stance on his future is clear: he is not for sale.

But that stance, as often proven in football, can quickly be changed if a suitable offer is made.
