Chelsea offer major transfer hint over future of Aston Villa loan star Tammy Abraham

Chelsea have offered a major transfer hint over the future of Tammy Abraham.

The striker returned to the Championship with Aston Villa this season and has fully recaptured the form he found with Bristol City in 2016/17.

He netted 23 goals in 41 matches for the Robins, and has netted 25 in 38 for Villa so far in this campaign, although he suffered an injury in Friday's 2-0 win over Bolton.

Abraham will miss Villa's game against Leeds this coming weekend but should return for his side's play-off campaign.

However, longer-term, his future seems more uncertain.

Chelsea accepted a bid from Wolves for him in January, but Abraham turned down the move, and Villa fans have spoken optimistically about keeping the player should they win promotion.

'Never did I think Leeds United would mess it up' - What Bristol City, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and other promotion contenders are saying

RB Leipzig have also been linked with a swoop for the forward as they prepare for life without current star Timo Werner.

Yet, reporting on the current fitness of their loan star, the Blues offered a major update on Abraham's future on their website.

They said the 21-year-old "is expected to rejoin Chelsea next season."

It is an update that will prove a blow to any side hoping to tempt him away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
