Chelsea supporters will be hoping to see their team challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The Blues, under the guidance of frank Lampard in his first season as head coach, finished fourth in the table securing Champions League football once more.
But they were 33 points behind champions Liverpool and 15 adrift of second-placed Manchester City.
However, they have already been busy in the transfer market, making two big-money attacking signings in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
And they are not likely to stop there.
A move for Kai Havertz edges ever closer to completion, while they have also been linked with a number of defenders and goalkeepers to strengthen at the back.
So, can they challenge Liverpool and City for the title when the 2020/21 campaign begins in earnest on September 12?
Former Liverpool star John Barnes does not think so.
Speaking to BonusCodeBets he said: "I definitely feel like Chelsea can challenge for the top four again next season, but I don’t necessarily think they can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool just yet.
"However, they will become more competitive and get closer to the top two teams in the Premier League with the signings they have made. Signing Ziyech, Werner and potentially more is clearly a strong indication that Chelsea are there to compete next season.
"I am sure they will be in the top four again, but I don’t think they will be ready to make a move for first or second place in the league just yet.”
