Chelsea news: Thomas Tuchel admits he “doesn’t understand” FA stance as transfer strategy continues

Rarely does a day go by at the moment without a new twist in one of the many stories surrounding Chelsea football club.

Their efforts to sign Wesley Fofana appear to have at long last finally paid off as late night reports have emerged suggesting the Blues have managed to reach an agreement with Leicester City.

The deal is expected to see the young Frenchman become the most expensive defender in history.

Thomas Tuchel has also been left seething over the FA's decision to hand him a one-game touchline ban for the full-time fracas that happened after the 2-2 draw at home to Spurs earlier this month.

Mirror Football has collated all the relevant headlines surrounding the Blues ahead of their home clash against Foxes on Saturday.

Tuchel baffled by FA ban

The Blues boss has admitted he has been left baffled by the FA’s decision to ban him from the touchline for this weekend’s clash against Leicester City – but not Antonio Conte.

The suspension stems from Tuchel’s clash with the Spurs manager just under a fortnight ago as the pair were embroiled in a heated exchange at full-time and both shown red-cards as a result.

Tuchel has clearly been deemed the instigator and been met with a one-game touchline ban and a £35,000 fine as a result, much to his dismay.

“I think there are two sides to it,” he added. “The one side is that I got the red card and behaved in a way which is not appropriate and which I regret, but it was out of passion.

“It was not too aggressive, it was out of passion. I can accept if I get a red card during the match – if this is the decision – I have a touchline ban and am fined. This is one side to it, I don’t dispute it and accept it.”

Transfer strategy remains the same

Blues owner Todd Boehly can not be accused of failing to provide the required funds (Getty Images)

Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly is clearly a man of his word as he continues to deliver on his promise to inject the Blues squad with plenty of new faces.

The West London-based outfit have already spent a healthy amount of cash on both players that will slot into the first-team immediately such as Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella as well as young talent such as Carney Chukwuemeka.

That spending is not expected to slow down as the Blues are reportedly ready to go ahead with a €15million (£12.6m) deal for Dynamo Moscow starlet Arsen Zakharyan.

The 19-year-old starlet has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs on the continent, including the likes of Premier League rivals Manchester City, La Liga titans Real Madrid and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Zakharyan won Dynamo’s Player of the Year award for the second successive season last term

Chelsea picture drops exits hint

Chelsea boss Tuchel has refused to rule out more Chelsea players leaving the club before the window's close next week.

While it is recognised that the Blues' priority at this stage is firmly on players they are looking to bring in, such as Wesley Fofana and Everton's Anthony Gordon, a recent picture released by the club has provided a clue as to which players could be on their way out.

In one of the released images from a session at Cobham, All four of Marcos Alonso, Billy Gilmour, Ross Barkley and Baba Rahman were snapped training with the academy squad.

All four have failed to make any of Chelsea’s three matchday squads in the Premier League so far and have been heavily tputed with moves away from the club.
