Chelsea news: The Pulisic factor, huge Tammy Abraham claim, Azpilicueta penalty verdict

Chelsea head into the weekend with a win under their belts.

Frank Lampard's side won an entertaining game with Norwich 3-2 on Saturday to well and truly get their season up and running.

And it put a number of their players centre stage too, following a good performance.

Here we round up the biggest Chelsea stories from the past 24 hours.

Azpilicueta verdict

Chelsea were left angered on Saturday when they were not awarded a penalty.

Cesar Azpilicueta appeared to be kicked on the back of the leg in the box as he went to win the ball against Norwich, but the referee did not award a penalty kick.

Former referee Dermot Gallagher is on Sky Sports every week to analyse the decisions of the men in the middle in the Premier League.

And he felt Azpilicueta should have had a spot-kick, but agreed that VAR were right not to overturn the decision.

Christian Pulisic: American hero

Christian Pulisic is taking a while to get into his stride at Chelsea.

Much is expected of the £57.6million signing from Borussia Dortmund, having come in with no other new signings because of the transfer embargo, and filling in for Eden Hazard, who left for Real Madrid.

But where has Pulisic come from?

The American is not treading new ground, but rather already worn, but overgrown ground for an American footballer in England.

We went back to his childhood to find out how he came to be the man he is today.

Tammy Abraham claim

Tammy Abraham bagged his first Premier League goals at the weekend.

The youngster bagged the opener and the winner as Chelsea beat newly-promoted Norwich City on Saturday lunchtime.

It repaid Frank Lampard's faith in the frontman and will give the 21-year-old a huge confidence boost for the rest of the season.

And one BBC pundit has made a huge claim about Abraham's season.

Read all about that here.

Power rankings

A first win of the season is just what the doctor ordered for Frank Lampard and Chelsea.

Tammy Abraham was undoubtedly one of the stars, but Mateo Kovacic played a huge role too.

And as is regular for football.london , we have put together our power rankings for the Blues squad.

Find out how Olvier Harbord rated the players this week.
