Chelsea news: The Mount & Barkley battle, why Sarri was wrong about Jorginho, Man United setback

There are little over two weeks until the new Premier League season gets under way.

And Chelsea re now focused on that first game against Manchester United after returning home from their pre-season tour of Japan.

Frank Lampard has a few more games to prepare his side for the start of the new campaign.

But he has a number of issues to deal with.

Here we take a look at the biggest stories doing the rounds at Chelsea in the last 24 hours.

Jorginho role

Jorginho drew the ire of pundits galore, as well as many Chelsea fans last season.

The 27-year-old joined the Blues last summer and was instantly inserted as base of the 4-3-3, as he was when Maurizio Sarri was in charge of Napoli.

However, with Frank Lampard at the helm the formation is set to change with 4-2-3-1 set to be the new blueprint of Chelsea's season.

And it is having an impact.

Here's what we've noticed about Jorginho in a different role.

Man United injury blow

It's just over two weeks until the new Premier League season starts.

Frank Lampard's first game in charge will be against Manchester United.

And the Red Devils have suffered a setback ahead of that clash at Old Trafford.

Here's the latest injury news.

Concern for Lampard

This season will be Frank Lampard's first as a manager in the Premier League.

It is undoubtedly going to be a tough assignment, not least because he is hamstrung by not being able to bring new players into the squad because of a transfer embargo.

Lampard has a lot of talented young players at his disposal though.

But they may not be enough to help him in the long run, according to former Liverpool man Steve Nicol.

He is concerned for the Blues legend this season.

Here's what he has said.

What we learned in Japan

Chelsea have now returned home from Japan.

Their pre-season tour of the Far East has come to an end and they now have two weeks until the start of the Premier League season to get ready.
