Chelsea news: Star hints at transfer, injury latest ahead of Newcastle, Hudson-Odoi's promise

We are within touching distance of the return of the Premier League now.

The international break is all-but over now, with Frank Lampard's Chelsea due back in action this Saturday against Newcastle United.

With Arsenal not playing until Monday night, the Blues can move into the top four, for at least a couple of days, with victory over the Magpies.

Lampard will be assessing his players after the international break, however, to see which of them are ready to play and who he may have to rest after their week's work on the international scene.

State of the squad

Chelsea are back in action this weekend against Newcastle as they look to continue a run of four successive wins in all competitions.

Giroud's statement on his future

Olivier Giroud has said that a decision will be made regarding his Chelsea future in the January transfer window.

During Giroud's time in west London he's not managed to hold down a regular place in the team, despite helping the Blues win the FA Cup and Europa League.

Gilmour on how Lampard convinced him to stay

Billy Gilmour has has credited Frank Lampard for handing him an opportunity in the Chelsea first team.

The 18-year-old looked set for a season with the Under-23s going into the new campaign, but instead has been afforded an opportunity to impress in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.

Gilmour admitted that he was considering going on loan for the season, but said that Lampard made a real effort to assure him that he had a place in his plans.

Hudson-Odoi's promise

Callum Hudson-Odoi is convinced there is is even more to come from him after he stepped up his recovery from injury with an exceptional brace in England Under-21s 5-1 demolition of Austria in Milton Keynes.

The Chelsea winger scored two goals and looked a cut above even his illustrious team-mates in what was only his third start since rupturing a tendon in his Achilles in April.
