Chelsea news: Sarri's Hazard theory as Real Madrid target outlines his ambition

Chelsea are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Old Trafford to take on fellow top four candidates Manchester United.

With three games left the play, the Blues are in the driving seat to finish the season in at least fourth spot. Three points against United would effectively put their opponents out of the race for a Champions League position, meaning just one of three would miss out.

The Blues also have a the small matter of a European semi-final following the game against Man United, where a first leg win away at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt would put them firmly in control for the home leg just a week later.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has strong message for his players as Man United face pivotal Chelsea test

Possible Champions League changes?

There is a meeting taking place on the 6th and 7th June 2019, where it is expected a proposal about changing the structure of Champions League football will be discussed. Chelsea will hope that any possible changes will affect them in future seasons.

The proposal includes adding in a promotion and relegation element to the competition. Qualification for the tournament would also be different, with not so much emphasis on domestic performance, but on the performance in the previous year's competition.

Any changes that may happen as a result of the proposal wouldn't come into effect until the 2024/25 campaign, so there is still some time to wait before any significant difference is felt.
