Chelsea news: Romelu Lukaku slammed as Blues set to target summer replacement

Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has been slammed after claiming an unwanted Premier League record against Crystal Palace last weekend.

The Belgium international touched the ball just seven times during the whole 90 minutes – and one of those was the kick-off.

And Premier League legend Alan Shearer has now slammed the striker for "not showing enough for the ball" following the dismal display.

It comes following reports the Blues are now prepared to cut their losses with the £97.5million summer signing and have drawn up a three-man shortlist of potential replacements.

And ex-captain has made a big admission about former boss Jose Mourinho.

Terry's Mourinho admission

Chelsea legend John Terry has admitted he's "still scared" of former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

Terry became Chelsea captain under Mourinho in 2004 before going on to become a key part in of one of the most formidable defences in Premier League history under the Portuguese manager.

The former England international has now opened up about his time playing under Mourinho, who he rates as the best manager he played for.

It's just the latest insight Terry has given into the regime at Stamford Bridge while Mourinho was in charge.

Lukaku slammed

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has slammed Romelu Lukaku's performance against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea claimed a narrow 1-0 win but it was Lukaku who stole the headlines after setting the unwanted record of registering just seven touches at Selhurst Park.

The disappointing performance from Lukaku has led to question marks being raised over the club's record signing and his place in Thomas Tuchel's starting XI.

And Shearer has now given a scathing review of the performance and urged Lukaku to have words with his teammates and "demand the ball" from them in future.

Chelsea have reportedly drawn up a three-man shortlist of strikers who they could target as Romelu Lukaku's replacement this summer.

Lukaku's return to Stamford Bridge this season has proven rather controversial, hitting a new low with his unwanted Premier League record last weekend.

The Belgium international has already spoken publicly about his unhappiness at the club, with Thomas Tuchel now believed to be preparing to weigh up his striker options in the summer.

And if the Blues do decide to sell their record signing, they have three players in mind to replace him with.
