Chelsea news: Ratings from Gladbach draw, Hazard's replacement revealed and Kante injury update

That's it. Pre-season has concluded for Chelsea and Frank Lampard, the real thing gets underway next week.

The Blues drew 2-2 with Borussia Monchengladbach yesterday afternoon, the final friendly ahead of the big Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It promises to be a big week for the west London outfit as there could be more outgoings before the transfer window closes. With that said, here's the news emerging from Stamford Bridge over the last 24 hours.

Player ratings

Chelsea fought back from 2-0 down to seal a 2-2 draw against the Bundesliga outfit.

The Blues trailed at the break as Alassane Plea broke the deadlock after waltzing past Mateo Kovacic before finding the back of the net and the hosts lead was doubled thanks to Jonas Hofmann.

Tammy Abraham reduced the deficit from the penalty spot early in the second half after Kovacic was bundled over in the box, and Ross Barkley completed the comeback with another penalty.

But who impressed Lampard?

Squad numbers reveal

Chelsea have finally confirmed their shirt numbers for the 2019/20 season ahead of next weekend's Premier League opener against Manchester United.

Supporters have been desperate to find out what number Christian Pulisic will wear for the new campaign following his move from Borussia Dortmund.

And the big question was to who would replace Eden Hazard as Chelsea's No.10.

Well, the Blues have now officially announced that Willian will switch from No.22 to No.10 following the Belgian's big-money move to Real Madrid.

As for Pulisic, he takes on the No.22 shirt vacated by Willian, the number he previously wore during his time in Germany with Dortmund.

Kante update

N'Golo Kante made his first appearance of pre-season in the Blues' 2-2 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach, coming on as a substitute in the second half.

But will he be ready to face Man United next week?

Lampard had an update.

"I just wanted him to feel it and us to see it as you cannot replicate it unless you do it.

"It was a good opportunity to do that for him and we'll work hard on getting him fit.

"Who knows if he'll be ready for next week or not, but we'll work hard for that.

Joe Cole on Mason Mount

Joe Cole has backed Mason Mount to flourish under the guidance of Frank Lampard at Chelsea.

"Mason Mount is a top player. He’s produced the goods on loan in Holland [with Vitesse] and in England [with Derby],” Cole told talkSPORT. “Every challenge he’s had he’s met. For me that’s a sign that a player is going to go places. Every time a question is asked of him, he performs.

"You’ve got to take your chance if you’re a young lad. It might be five or ten minutes, that’s the nature of the beast.

"You get the feeling if Mason gets the nod he will produce."
