Chelsea news: Raheem Sterling changes mind on transfer as Todd Boehly gets involved

Manchester City forward has changed his mind over where his preferred transfer destination is this summer following interest from Chelsea.

The England international only has one year left on his contract at the Etihad, leading to speculation he could seek a move away from the club this summer. He had previously been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona – but is now open to moving to Chelsea.

It comes as new Blues owner Todd Boehly is set to take control of two Chelsea transfers, including Sterling's, with chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia confirmed they would be leaving the club. And Antonio Rudiger has shared the "key moment" he chose to sign for Real Madrid over staying at Chelsea.

Sterling's transfer decision

Raheem Sterling has changed his preferred transfer destination ahead of a potential switch this summer.

The Manchester City forward has previously been linked with Real Madrid, and had seemed destined for Barcelona in January before they opted to sign his teammate Ferran Torres instead. But after Chelsea entered the race for his signature, Sterling is now open to moving to London instead of Spain.

Thomas Tuchel is happy to offer Sterling regular first team football at Chelsea, and the player himself is now thought to be keen to stay in the Premier League.

Boehly to get involved in transfers

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is take control of the club's bids to sign Raheem Sterling and Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

It comes after Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia both confirmed they would be leaving the club. Granovskaia in particular has been Chelsea's transfer guru in recent years, meaning new owner Boehly has big shoes to fill.

And with Chelsea's Premier League rivals so far being very active in the transfer market this summer, it appears Boehly wants to take transfer matters into his own hands ahead of his first season with the club.

Rudiger recalls "key moment"

Antonio Rudiger says that a conversation with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was the "key moment" in deciding his future.

The German defender's moved to the Spanish outfit on a four-year deal after his contract at Stamford Bridge expired. He has now been unveiled as a Real Madrid player, where he recalled his conversation with Ancelotti in April.

And Rudger says that was the moment he decided "to play for Madrid".
