Chelsea news: Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang slammed amid Kepa Arrizabalaga injury update

Chelsea can end the first-half of the 2022/2023 Premier League season on a high if they defeat Newcastle at St James' Park on Saturday evening.

One man who may be fired up for the trip is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who disappointed in the defeat to Arsenal last week. He has now also come under fire from Gunners legend David Seaman for his current poor form.

That blast from Seaman comes as Chelsea were sent a warning about their hopes of finishing in the top four and Graham Potter delivered on update on the fitness of Kepa Arrizabalaga. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Chelsea news.

Aubameyang blasted by Seaman

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been slammed by Arsenal legend David Seaman for his poor run of form. The striker has scored just one goal in the Premier League since he arrived from Barcelona in the summer.

He was virtually anonymous in the defeat to the Gunners last Sunday, before being subbed off by Blues boss Graham Potter. And now Seaman has taken aim at the Gabon international for his disappointing displays.

"I’m not surprised the way he is playing. That’s what he been like for quite a while now. He does it in flashes, he doesn’t do it for long enough. The only disappointing this about the weekend is that when Arsenal scored, he sneaked off," he said.

Souness sends top four warning

Graeme Souness has warned Chelsea they risk missing out on the top four (Football Daily)

Chelsea have been warned they are at serious risk of missing out on a place in the top four this season. Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness believes the Blues face a huge battle to turn their season around.

Souness has insisted that Chelsea must make some serious moves in the January transfer window. They went on a major spending spree in the summer and Souness believes they need a much better window this time around.

“I think Chelsea are in jeopardy, a lot depends on what they do in the transfer window. Arsenal are looking convincing at the moment, they look like a really good team. But I think everyone is playing for second place this season," he told talkSPORT.

Kepa injury update

Kepa appears to have suffered a setback in his attempts to return to fitness, according to Blues boss Graham Potter. The Spaniard has missed Chelsea's last two games since being withdrawn at half-time from the hammering at Brighton.

And it appears unlikely that he will play for the Blues before the World Cup kicks off next week. Potter delivered a fresh update on his fitness this week, with the Chelsea boss not positive.

Speaking on Tuesday, Potter said: “Kepa [Arrizabalaga] is still unavailable. We'll see [if he plays before the World Cup]. He's got to take it day by day. It's not so positive."
