Chelsea news: One injury setback and one injury boost, Liverpool squad, fans rage at Man City

Chelsea do not have long to wait to try and get the defeat to Manchester United out of their system.

After a 4-0 defeat to United at Old Trafford, the Blues can get immediately back on the horse as they face Liverpool in the Super Cup on Wednesday night.

Here we take a look at the biggest stories from around Stamford Bridge in the past 24 hours, as Frank Lampard and his men prepare for the European clash in Istanbul.

N'Golo Kante setback

Chelsea fans, and management, would have been hoping that N'Golo Kante's injury problems were behind him.

The France World Cup winner came off the bench during the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

But Kante will not be present during Chelsea's Super Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Here's why.

Rudiger return

But while the Kante news is something of a setback, there was good news on the injury front.

Antonio Rudiger, injured while playing against Manchester Untied last season, and did not play at Old Trafford on Sunday, is back.

The German defender has been named in the squad for the game against Liverpool in Istanbul.

Here are all the squad details for the clash.

Give them time

Frank Lampard needs time to make sure his methods work.

But the new head coach is not the only one.

A Chelsea legend believes that following the departure of David Luiz, the new centre-back pairing at Stamford Bridge also needs time to develop.

Fans fume

Chelsea's two-window transfer ban has been well publicised.

New Blues boss Frank Lampard has been unable to sign any players this summer.

And he will not be able to reinforce in January either.

There was a real possibility that Manchester City would suffer a similar fate, for financial irregularities.

However, FIFA has ruled that they will not have a ban, instead handing them a fine.

That has not gone down well with the Chelsea fans.
