Chelsea news: Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo 'offered' as new priority defender named

Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign both Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has been told he can leave the Ligue 1 champions, while Ronaldo has asked to leave Premier League rivals Manchester United following their failure to qualify for next season's Champions League. New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen to bring in a marquee signing this summer and could now have both players in his sights.

It comes as the Blues have identified a new priority defender after their bid for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt was gazumped by Bayern Munich. And Roy Keane has already told Chelsea how many goals Cristiano Ronaldo would score for them.

Neymar and Ronaldo 'offered'

Superstar forwards Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo have reportedly both been offered to Chelsea this summer.

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen to make a marquee signing to mark the beginning of a new era at Stamford Bridge, having promised Thomas Tuchel that the club will bring in at least six new faces during the summer transfer window. Representatives of both Neymar and Ronaldo have contacted the Blues, according to reports.

That could lead to Boehly pursuing both players, with Leeds United winger Raphinha still set on a move to Barcelona.

New priority defender targeted

Chelsea have switched targets after their bid for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt was gazumped by Bayern Munich.

That could lead to Thomas Tuchel moving for Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard. The Frenchman's versatility across the back line is seen as a plus by the Chelsea boss as he looks to offset the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer.

The Blues could face stiff competition for the player's signature, however, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid also keen.

Keane's Ronaldo message to Chelsea

Roy Keane thinks Cristiano Ronaldo would score 50 goals next season should he sign for Chelsea.

Ronaldo has asked to leave Premier League rivals Manchester United this summer in order to play in the Champions League. The Portuguese superstar's agent Jorge Mendes has already discussed his client's availability with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and the Blues are thought to be considering making a bid for the forward.

And United legend Keane has already indicated how successful the move could be – after he previously said the amount of chances Chelsea create would help Ronaldo score 50 goals a season for the Stamford Bridge club.
