Chelsea news: Message for Hudson-Odoi, midfielder's injury setback, Kepa's comments on De Gea

It may be the weekend, but there is no Chelsea game amid the international break.

Seven days ago, the Blues were in action against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge, with Frank Lampard's men being pegged back by the Blades after taking a two-goal lead in west London.

But Chelsea have to wait another seven days to try and get another win on the board, with Wolves the next opponents for Lampard's side.

Several Chelsea stars are currently away on international duty, but there are many still in England preparing for that clash at Molineux.

And below, we take a look at the latest Chelsea news ahead of the return of Premier League football next week.

Chalobah's message for Hudson-Odoi

The future of Callum Hudson-Odoi has been a subject of much speculation in recent weeks.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Germany to join Bayern Munich in the past two transfer windows, while it has recently been reported that he is close to signing a new contract at Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi has not yet featured for Chelsea this season, with the teenager still recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon injury, which he sustained back in April.

However, he is now close to returning to action for the Blues, and he has got Chelsea fans talking after a video was shared by the club showcasing some silky skills.

But one of his Chelsea team-mates, Trevoh Chalobah, has said what many Blues fans want, after responding to Hudson-Odoi on Twitter.

Fresh injury setback for midfielder

It has been a difficult couple of seasons for Danny Drinkwater at Chelsea.

The former Leicester City man has not played a league game since March 2018, having not featured at all in the Premier League during Maurizio Sarri's time in charge.

He has played 23 times for Chelsea since joining in August 2017, but is now on loan at Burnley.

However, he has not yet played for the Clarets in the Premier League, with just one appearance for Sean Dyche's side in the EFL Cup this season.

But he has now suffered a fresh injury setback, and is reportedly set for another spell on the sidelines.

It has been reported that Drinkwater has suffered an unspecified injury away from the training ground, although Burnley and Chelsea have not commented on the situation.

It is, however, understood that he now faces at least a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Kepa comments on his rivalry with David De Gea

It appears that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has lost his status as Spain's number one, with Chelsea star Kepa Arrizabalaga starting the last four international fixtures.

That included Spain's 2-1 win against Romania on Thursday night, with Kepa playing the full 90 minutes as De Gea remained on the bench.

Coach Robert Moreno has said he "doesn't believe that in a national team it's crucial that the same goalkeeper plays all the games."

But regardless of the situation, Kepa insists his main rival for the number one spot has not kicked up a fuss.

"Whoever plays is the coach's decision, we always train with three goalkeepers and the atmosphere is very good," he told Marca.

Find out what else Kepa had to say after the game here.
