Chelsea news: Mason Mount on Rice friendship, Loan Army changes and the winners and losers

The first international break is upon us and Chelsea players will be jetting off around the world in order to represent their international teams.

The Blues go into the international break on the back of a 2-2 draw with newly promoted Sheffield United. A Tammy Abraham brace put Chelsea 2-0 up at half time, but a second half fight back from the Blades was enough to see them take a point.

Players who are not on international duty will be working hard with Frank Lampard in order to prepare for the next Premier League match against Wolves at Molineux on September 14th.

As work continues ahead of that match, here is the latest news from Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Mount's England involvement

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been called up to the England squad for the European qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo this week.

The 20-year-old has been training with the Three Lions ahead of the games, and there is one former Chelsea youngster in the squad who he will be reunited with.

Declan Rice started his career at Stamford Bridge before moving onto West Ham, where he now plays his football.

Mount is again under the stewardship of Frank Lampard, who himself has 106 midfield caps for England.

Winners and losers

The season has had a mixed start for Chelsea under Frank Lampard, the Blues have five points from their first four games of the season, winning one, drawing two and losing one.

Without being able to sign new players during the summer due to a transfer ban and losing talisman Eden Hazard, players at Stamford Bridge will see this season as an opportunity to step up and prove their worth to the head coach.

Some have taken the opportunity with both hands whereas others haven't been so successful.

Loan cuts

Chelsea are notorious for sending players on loan in order to give them game time, last season a total of 40 Blues players moved away from Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis.

However, that figure has dramatically fell this season. By the time the European transfer window closed, Chelsea had 27 players out on loan 13 less than last season.

But what are the reasons for such a difference in numbers?

Take a look here to find out .
