Chelsea news: Luiz lined up for Arsenal transfer, Solskjaer's Man United surprise

What will happen at Chelsea on transfer deadline day?

The final day of the transfer window is here and, much like the rest of the summer, there has been little for Chelsea fans to get excited about, given the transfer embargo.

But there could be movement - of the outgoing variety at least.

And there's a new Premier League season to gear up for.

Here we round up the biggest Chelsea stories from the past 24 hours.

David Luiz on the move?

There are no incomings on transfer deadline day at Stamford Bridge, by virtue of the transfer embargo.

One player has emerged as a shock transfer out of the club - David Luiz.

Arsenal have reportedly made a move for the Brazilian defender, who only signed a new contract with the Blues at the end of last season.

Here's what we know.

Emery on Luiz

Arsenal were linked with a move for Luiz in the last summer transfer window.

That was when the Brazilian was out of favour under Antonio Conte.

Luiz found a new lease of life under Maurizio Sarri and even signed a new deal at Chelsea at the end of the season.

But Emery has spoken about the centre-back before. We took a look at what he said and what it could mean for a potential transfer today.

Solskjaer surprise

The new Premier League season is but a day away.

Liverpool and Norwich kick off the new campaign on Friday night football.

Chelsea's first game takes place at Old Trafford on Super Sunday.

And there is a hint that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could spring a starting XI surprise.

Alternative table

Chelsea fans have reasons to be cheerful ahead of the Premier League opener against Manchester United.

It may be Frank Lampard's first competitive fixture, with a squad lacking in new signings, bar Christian Pulisic, and without Eden Hazard.

But there are statistics which show the Blues fans should be optimistic.

Here's why.
