Chelsea news: Loftus-Cheek urged to make career decision and talking points from Watford win

Champions League football at Stamford Bridge for the 2019/20 season was secured on Sunday.

Chelsea's comfortable 3-0 defeat of Watford coupled with both Manchester United and Arsenal dropping points against Huddersfield and Brighton respectively, meant that the Blues now cannot finish lower than fourth place in the table.

Maurizio Sarri and his team travel to Leicester for the final Premier League game of the season at the weekend, but first they have a Europa League semi-final on Thursday to concentrate on.

Who Chelsea and Spurs could face in the 2019/20 Champions League group stages

The Blues are at home in the second leg, and will hope that that advantage will be enough to see them through to the final of the competition later this month.

Take a look below for news coming from Stamford Bridge over the last 24 hours.

Pundits urges Loftus-cheek to make a big career decision

Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in the second half against Watford to set Maurizio Sarri's men on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win after an uncomfortable first half.

The England midfielder has mainly been used as a substitute since returning from a loan spell at Crystal Palace last summer. His impact against the Hornets was made as a first half substitute for the injured N'golo Kante.

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has included the 23-year-old in his weekly 'team of the week' column, but has insisted that the player has a decision to make if he wants to see his career progress.

"It's time Ruben Loftus-Cheek made some serious decisions about his career at Chelsea," the pundit wrote.

"The lad can play, as was clearly evident against Watford."

Who is the most likely to sign in the summer window?

In Chelsea's case there is still an uncertainty about what will happen during the summer transfer window. There is a possible ban hanging over the club, which will mean that Maurizio Sarri will not be able to make any additions.

With the likely departure of talisman Eden Hazard, the club are fighting to appeal the ban. Presuming that the club is successful with it's appeal, who are they likely to target come the end of the season?

A replacement for Hazard will be the obvious choice, although the arrival of Christian Pulišić may just soften the blow. But are there any other areas that Sarri may want to strengthen during the summer?
