Chelsea news: Loanees in the goals, Loftus-Cheek ready for more & Spurs slip up

The top four race is going to go down to the final game of the season and Chelsea are in control of their destiny when it comes to securing Champions League football.

With Tottenham Hotspur losing yesterday, the Blues can go third with a win over Watford later this afternoon in a big game at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester United are also in action today as the battle continues, but the quality has not been there from any of the sides.

All four clubs have not really deserved the two Champions League spots, but here is the latest that has happened over the past 24 hours.

Spurs open the door

What an incredible game it was at the Vitality Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth.

Not only did Chelsea's London rivals get beaten once again, they had two men sent off with Heung-Min Son and Juan Foyth getting their marching orders.

Then just to cap it all off it was former Blues defender Nathan Ake who popped up in the dying minutes to win the game for the Cherries.

The Blues could clinch a top four spot this weekend if the results go their way.

Loftus-Cheek wants more

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been getting himself back into the starting XI for the rest of the season and he wants even more experiences in European football.

The 23-year-old started on Thursday night in the Europa League semi-final first leg, being the most creative player on the pitch and putting in an excellent display.

Here the England international has been talking about his back injury and needing more in the future. Check it out here.

Loanees in the goals

It was another good weekend for Chelsea's loanees, especially with a couple of the big names being on the scoresheet for their respective clubs.

Christian Pulisic scored a wonderful opener for Borussia Dortmund in their clash at Werder Bremen, having a strong end to the campaign.

Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi had a neat finish in Crystal Palace's game at Cardiff City. The Blues have to solve their striker issue and Batshuayi could be brought back into help solve it.

Tammy Abraham is also set to be back for Aston Villa this weekend after his injury, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

Why Chelsea must secure Champions League football to extend a long-running tradition
