Chelsea news: Lampard speaks out on Mourinho, injury blow, transfer links to Jadon Sancho

Chelsea are four points clear of the chasing pack in the race for Champions League qualification.

Jose Mourinho's Spurs side are now mired six points behind the Blues following the 2-0 win by Frank Lampard's side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

But the reaction to that match has been considerable, with yet another racism storm overshadowing the result.

Injury blow confirmed

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has provided an injury update ahead of his team's Boxing Day clash with Southampton.

The Blues go into the game off the back of an impressive 2-0 away win against rivals Tottenaham Hotspur on Sunday, where a brace from Willian gave them all three points.

Ahead of the match against the Saints, Lampard confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Chelsea have suffered an injury setback.

It wouldn't be Christmas without some transfer latest - the January window is just a week away after all.

Lampard hits back at Mourinho

Lampard has hit back at comments from Mourinho over Son Heung-min's red card during Chelsea's 2-0 victory.

The Spurs forward kicked out at Blues' defender Antonio Rudiger in the second half of the match, with the German falling to the floor holding his abdomen.

After review, VAR advised referee Anthony Taylor to show Son a straight red card for violent conduct, meaning that he has also been handed a further three-game ban.

Following the game, Tottenham head coach Mourinho made his feelings clear on the red card, aiming a dig in Rudiger's direction - and Lampard wasn't too happy about it.
