Chelsea news: Lampard deal done, transfer ban latest, pre-season plans, Omeruo decision

It's still pretty quiet at Stamford Bridge.

They may have signed Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal, but that is because he was on loan last season, and is not being registered as a new player.

They are still waiting on a new manager, however, although that could be about to change.

Here we round up all the big stories from around Chelsea in the last 24 hours.

Lampard breakthrough

When will Frank Lampard be announced as the new Chelsea manager?

That's the only thing the Blues supporters want to know.

Maurizio Sarri left the club last month to join Juventus, and while the Blues legend has been the man expected to replace him, there has been no official confirmation.

That could soon change though. Here's why.

Transfer ban update

It looks like being Lampard as the new boss.

And with that question all-but answered, the other big issue that needs to be rectified is the two-window transfer embargo.

The Blues have been handed the ban by FIFA for their dealings with youth team players.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport could overturn the decision, but are Chelsea going to appeal to them?

Here's the latest.

Pre-season plans

Chelsea's players report back for pre-season on Friday as they prepare for the 2019/20 campaign under another new head coach.

For the third season in a row the Blues will have a new man at the helm, and while it is yet to be announced, Frank Lampard is expected to be the person in charge.

It's a busy summer for the Blues with seven matches in five different countries, with the first game in Dublin on July 10 against Bohemian FC.

When Lampard takes charge, he won't have a great amount of time to evaluate the squad and get to grips with the way that he wants his side to play on the training pitch.

And he will not have everyone back in the fold either.

We take a look at the players who will be missing.

Omeruo ultimatum

Chelsea have a long list of players in their Loan Army.

But one of them does not plan on continuing.

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo joined the west London outfit in the 2012 winter transfer window but is yet to make a senior appearance for the club and spent last season in Spain with Leganes.

That was the sixth loan spell away from the Blues for the centre-back.

And enough is enough for him.

Here's what he has said.
