Chelsea news: Lampard angered, Mourinho questions Willian decision, Man United woes

It was a bad start to the new Premier League season for Chelsea.

And a bad start to life as a Premier League boss for Frank Lampard.

The Blues were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford, although that does not really tell the whole story.

Frank Lampard took plenty of positives, despite the scoreline.

Here we round up all the latest news stories from around Chelsea in the last 24 hours.

Man United woes

After hitting the woodwork twice in the opening 45 minutes, Chelsea were undone on the break by Manchester United in the second half at Old Trafford.

Four-nil was a harsh scoreline on Lampard and his men, who enjoyed more possession than the home side.

But as Leicester in 2016 will tell you, possession means nothing if you don't do anything with it.

Here's how we rated the players in defeat to United.

And here's what Lampard had to say after the match.

Mourinho criticism

Jose Mourinho was a studio guest for the clash on Sky Sports.

And as much as he said he didn't like it when pundits were critical of things they were not to know the proper ins and outs of, he was paid to do just that.

The former Blues boss criticised Chelsea's lack of experience, with Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham in the side, along with a central defensive pairing of Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen.

Here's what Mourinho had to say about the result.

And the player that really drew criticism from him.

Lampard hits back

Understandably, Lampard did not agree with his former mentor's words.

In fact, the first question in Lampard's press conference after the defeat to Manchester United was about hat Mourinho had said on Sky Sports.

It was a real welcome to life in the Premier League for Lampard.

The Blues boss hit back at his former manager about his team selection and the players that were not available to play for one reason or another.

Here's what Lampard said in response.

Youngsters' warning

Abraham and Mount may have been given the nod against United, but that's no guarantee they'll keep their places.

It may have been a bone of contention for some, and Lampard has admitted himself that the young players have to prove their worth.

And the Blues boss was saying that before a ball had even been kicked.

Here's his warning to the youngsters.
