Chelsea news: Huge injury setback, Giroud transfer, January snub, Azpilicueta concern

Chelsea will travel to the Emirates on Sunday to face off against their old foes Arsenal.

It will be a battle of two London teams in poor form, with Chelsea having won just twice in their last seven Premier League games and Arsenal with just one league win in their last 11 matches.

The race for the top four is still on, although much will depend on who comes out on top on Sunday.

All the build-up to that game, plus January transfer news is right here in our round-up of the biggest Chelsea stories from the past 24 hours.

Injury setback

Chelsea have suffered an injury setback ahead of the trip to Arsenal.

Frank Lampard's side are in poor form and they will face up against their London rivals, with a new head coach at the helm, also in poor form.

It is set to be an intriguing encounter at the Emirates, but one that one Chelsea star will miss.

Find out who here.

Giroud transfer

Olivier Giroud looks set to leave Stamford Bridge.

But whether that will be in January or next summer remains to be seen.

The Frenchman is out of favour under Frank Lampard, with the Blues' head coach opting to play the youthful Tammy Abraham.

And it is a move that has paid off so far this season.

Giroud has admitted staying at Chelsea would be "difficult" and Lampard has offered an update on the French striker's future.

January transfer blow

Frank Lampard reportedly has around £150million to spend in the January transfer window.

FIFA's transfer ban was reduced from two windows to one, meaning they are free to sign players next month when the window opens.

Lampard has so far shown faith in youth players, but in poor form he may look to bring in fresh blood.

One player who has been linked will not be arriving at Stamford Bridge though.

Azpilicueta worry

Teams do not fear coming to Stamford Bridge anymore.

That is the worrying opinion of Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Blues have been much better on the road so far this season and they will hope that continues against Arsenal on Sunday.

But they must rectify their home form, although Azpilicueta worryingly is not sure they can.
