Chelsea News: Frenkie de Jong transfer alternative identified as Boehly considers Wilfried Zaha

Here are your latest football.london Chelsea headlines on on Tuesday, August 9.

Frenkie de Jong alternative identified

With Man United now seemingly distancing themselves from a move, Chelsea's path to Frenkie de Jong is starting to become a lot clearer. Amid a damaging Barcelona update provided by The Athletic, Todd Boehly is willing to pay the legal fees that De Jong is currently holding Barca too with the La Liga giants now at a stage of taking proceedings to court if things don't improve soon.

But there is a risk too that the 25-year-old refuses an exit in its entirety this summer until he's given the £17million deferred wages. With this in mind, Chelsea may have to look elsewhere. According to a report from Sport Witness, Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic would say yes to a a Blues move if the right money was presented to the Serie A team.

Wilfried Zaha's stance on Chelsea transfer revealed amid Cristiano Ronaldo and Aubameyang issue

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is said to be 'keen' on making a late and shock transfer switch to Chelsea this summer as Todd Boehly and Thomas Tuchel considers their options amid Cristiano Ronaldo and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang questions.

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea are being encouraged to make a move for Crystal Palace talisman Zaha with the player himself 'keen' on making the cross-city switch to West London in the knowledge that this may be his final chance in his peak to make a big switch to a so-called top six side.

Whether or not Chelsea are to make a move for a player valued at only £34million by Transfermarkt with one year left on his contract remains to be seen. The prospect of a cut-price transfer could prove appealing to the new owners with a big money outlay expected if they are successful in their £155million double transfer swoop for De Jong and Fofana.

Ralf Rangnick delivers Timo Werner to RB Leipzig verdict

Former Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has insisted that soon-to-be new RB Leipzig signing Timo Werner needs to play in a front two to succeed amid his Chelsea transfer failure.

When all the dust has settled on this summer's transfer window, certain figures at the club will reflect on just where it went wrong with Werner. Ex-Man United interim manager Rangnick has suggested a few things RB Leipzig need to do which Chelsea didn't to unlock the Bundesliga version of Werner once more.

The new Austrian international team head coach who is also doing a lot of punditry work at this current moment in the German top flight told Sky Germany (via Florian Plettenberg): "From a sporting point of view, the transfer makes sense. Timo has speed and depth. No player in RB has that in the offensive area except [Christopher] Nkunku.

"In order to play at his performance limit, Timo needs trust and the absolute backing of the trainer. It's important for Timo that he plays regularly so that he can get in shape for the World Cup."
