Chelsea news: Frank Lampard sends transfer message, Edinson Cavani boost, winter break plans

The January transfer window is coming to an end and Chelsea have plenty of irons in the fire.

The Blues have also been busy on the pitch, with a win over Championship side Hull City ensuring they are in the hat for the fifth round draw of the FA Cup.

But head coach Frank Lampard will be hoping to have new players at his disposal by the time that match comes along.

Here we round-up the biggest news stories from around Stamford Bridge in the past 24 hours, including the latest transfer news and what happens next for Chelsea.

Frank Lampard's transfer message

Frank Lampard wants new signings at Chelsea.

The Blues were hit with a transfer embargo by FIFA, but that was cut down by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, leaving the Blues clear to make new signings this winter.

However, they have yet to make their move.

And it looks like head coach Lampard is getting frustrated.

He sent a message to the Chelsea board of directors following the FA Cup win over Hull City.

Edinson Cavani boost

One player the Blues have been heavily linked with is Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this month.

And Stamford Bridge is a mooted destination.

Chelsea know they will have to pay for the striker, who is entering the final five months of his contract at the Parc des Princes.

But they have been handed a boost in the race to sign him.

Winter break plans

All eyes are currently on what will happen in the final days of the January transfer window.

But just around the corner there is a winter break.

It will be the first time the Premier League has a winter break, after calls for one to be introduced for years, to fall in line with the other big European leagues.

Hull action

It was nervy in the end, but Chelsea got the job done at the KCOM Stadium.
