Fikayo Tomori has pointed to Chelsea’s hard work, concentration and approach of taking one game at a time as big reasons for their recent improvements.
A 4-2 win at Burnley on Saturday leaves the Blues in fourth place in the Premier League and with seven straight wins in all competitions of late.
The 21-year-old defender has played a big role so far, playing in seven of Chelsea’s 10 league games in 2019/20.
And an ability to take on each challenge as it comes, as well as a natural gelling process after plenty of changes to personnel this summer, has been the key to their impressive run of results.
“We were on a streak of winning five games when we played at Ajax in the Champions League and that was more a thinking game,” he told ChelseaFC.com.
“The Champions League is obviously a difficult competition and then to come away to a place like Burnley is difficult and sometimes you can slip up, but we just wanted to stay focused and we know the threats they posed. I think we dealt with them well.
“The key to our form is the hard work on the training pitch. Everyone is really focused and we try to work hard every day and implement what the manager is trying to make us do every week.
“It is a lot of hard work, focus, determination and that will to win, and we have a good mix of experience and young players who are gelling together a bit more now. We just want to keep playing well, we want to keep on winning games and winning is a habit.
“Further on in the season, who knows where we can end up but we are just focused on every single game as it comes. We focused on Ajax and won that, we were focused on this one at Burnley and now we are focused on Man United in the Carabao Cup.”
Tomori bemoaned Chelsea’s late lapse which saw Burnley pull two goals back, but reserved praise for Pulisic in the attacking line after a difficult few weeks.
“We know what Christian can do and he has had to bide his time and when he has come on in recent games he has done really well, and the manager rewarded him with a start on Saturday and to score a hat-trick, there is nothing better.
“I am really happy for him that he has managed to open his account and got a hat-trick as well.”
