Chelsea news: Edson Alvarez transfer stance revealed as Christian Pulisic hints at exit

Here are your latest football.london Chelsea headlines on Monday, September 26.

Edson Alvarez Chelsea's no.1 transfer target

Chelsea's priority midfield target in January is still set to be Ajax star Edson Alvarez, according to the Express.

Thomas Tuchel attempted to sign the Mexico international late in the summer transfer window before he was then sacked as Blues boss.

Chelsea made Ajax a £40million offer for Alvarez towards the end of August and the player was keen on the move with reports claiming the 24-year-old had skipped training on deadline day in an attempt to force through a transfer.

Christian Pulisic transfer exit hint

Chelsea loanee Gabriel Slonina has revealed what Christian Pulisic said to him after the Blues signed the talented goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Slonina said: "I did give him a message when I was in Chelsea, signing and everything. He [Pulisic] said he's super excited for me to be with the club and hopefully we can see the field together."

Reading between the lines, Pulisic's use of the word 'hopefully' could hint that the 24-year-old isn't expecting to be at Stamford Bridge further than next season. Reports have linked Pulisic with a move to Serie A giants Juventus as well as Premier League rivals Newcastle.

Gabriel Slonina 'excited' for Chelsea return

Speaking on an episode of The Call Up podcast, Slonina admitted he is 'super excited' to join up with the Chelsea squad next year after impressing during his time with Chicago Fire. The 18-year-old said: "I'm super excited just to be in that environment and see what it's like in the Premier League.

"How the coach acts when we win, when we lose, what's the locker room look like? Just that level of pressure, I can't wait to be in there and be in that environment because I think you're going to learn from every single person there."

The 18-year-old added: "The path that they showed me and presented me while I was talking to them was something I really liked.

"They [Chelsea] really focused on a player's development and making sure they're seeing the right things, playing games and getting minutes. Because obviously for a young goalkeeper, that's super important.

"You can train a lot, but you still have to see those game minutes and everything. I was drawn to the fans, to the location of where it's at. And it's Chelsea, so it was a no-brainer."
