Chelsea news: Double injury boost, Liverpool blow, Hudson-Odoi warning and big Klopp claim

It's been an up and down season for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.

After failing to win three of their opening four games in the Premier League prior to the international break, the Blues enjoyed a 5-2 win over Wolves last weekend.

But they failed to capitalise on that win as they were beaten 1-0 by Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Blues don't have much time to reflect on the game against the La Liga outfit as they're back in action on Sunday afternoon.

It's the return of Premier League football as Chelsea host league leaders Liverpool who are also coming off a shock 2-0 loss against Napoli in midweek.

With that said, here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Double injury boost

Mason Mount and N'Golo Kante have a chance of featuring for Chelsea against Liverpool, Frank Lampard has said.

"He has got a chance. We saw the image of the tackle made it look bad," Lampard said about Mount during his pre-match press conference . "We are trying to get him moving today, I will have to make the call before the game.

"His attitude is good so he will give everything to play.

"There was a lot of swelling, didn’t look the best, if there is proper damage you can't do much. We won’t take any risks, there is a bigger picture, we will do our best."

Liverpool blow

It's mixed news on the injury front for the Reds.

Midfielder Naby Keita is set to return to full training with the first team and could be in contention to make the squad for the trip to the capital.

However, the league leaders are set to be without Alisson Becker once again.

"Alisson making big progress," Klopp added. "A proper session yesterday with John Achterberg. Not in team training yet, and we take it day by day.

"We will see. Too early to say. Medical department will tell me."

Hudson-Odoi warning

After months of speculation regarding his future amid links to Bayern Munich, the teenager has now put a rest to any talk of him leaving by putting pen-to-paper on a five-year deal.

Hudson-Odoi enjoyed a breakthrough year under ex-head coach Maurizio Sarri last season, making 22 appearances across all competitions while weighing in with five goals.

But he's been warned by Lampard that the hard work starts now.

"Now that a five-year contract is signed it is where the hard work really starts for him," the Blues head coach said. "He has got everything we are trying to bring, we know the talent he has that he has shown on occasions in the first team when he has had his opportunity.

"I think there is a lot more. It’s pure hard work that will get him there."

Big Klopp claim

Jurgen Klopp has provided some glowing praise on two Chelsea players.

In particular, the Reds boss has picked out stars such as Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount prior to the fixture on Sunday.

"It's a really exciting team. It reminds of my team at Borussia Dortmund years back when they were really young. People always talk about how young they are but they only play at that age because they're good," Klopp told the press ahead of the fixture, per Sky Sports .

"Tammy Abraham is now a £60m player, Mason Mount is for sure a £60m player, if not more, Callum Hudson-Odoi was that already.

"They have Jorginho who is not that young but is new in the league and (N'Golo) Kante looks like he could play for another 20 years."
