Chelsea news: Derby's Lampard decision, Jorginho revelation, transfer ban update, Abraham boost

They may have a transfer ban, but there's plenty of other things to talk about in the world of Chelsea Football Club.

The main thing being the search for a new manager, for the second year in a row.

Maurizio Sarri has departed west London to take up the reins at Juventus, leaving the Blues in limbo once more.

And with a transfer embargo over their heads, it's not as attractive a proposition as it should be.

And we start with the transfer ban as we take a look at the big stories around Stamford Bridge.

Transfer ban

This is what prospective bosses will want to know about.

Will there be a transfer ban in place or not?

As it stands there won't be any new players coming in with FIFA having issued a two-window transfer ban on the Blues for breaking regulations over the signing of youth players.

Chelsea have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to try to get the ban overturned, but as yet have not had the ban frozen for the summer.

CAS released a list of hearings that go up to August 14, with Chelsea's case not on it, however that doesn't necessarily mean that the Blues won't be heard by the middle of the summer.

Here's what we know on the subject.

Lampard decision

Frank Lampard is the hot favourite to replace Sarri at the Stamford Bridge helm.

The Blues legend is highly regarded in west London and is seen as a safe choice to take over, despite only one year of management experience at Derby County, as he can blood the young players with the transfer embargo in place.

But could there be a problem?

Derby do not want to lose their manager and they have taken steps to stop the Blues getting their own way.

Other names in the frame

If it's not Lampard, who could Chelsea turn to next?

Former managers Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez have been summarily linked with the vacant post.

And there are plenty of other big names in the frame too.

We have taken a look at the other potential candidates if the Blues are forced to move on from Lampard.

Jorginho revelation

Jorginho has been something of a Marmite character since arriving in English football.

He does the simple things in the middle of the park, which he is both praise and derided for, depending on your football faith.

But he might never have made it to Chelsea and the Premier League.

The Italian has made a startling revelation about his past that almost made him quit the game altogether.

Abraham boost

Many Blues fans have welcomed the news of a transfer ban as they hope it will give some of the youngsters a chance to prove themselves in the first team finally.

One of those they are keen to see more of is Tammy Abraham.

The striker netted 26 goals for Aston Villa last season, helping them to promotion to the Premier League.

And his hopes of making a mark on the Blues first team have been given a boost by Gonzalo Higuain's latest admission.

Here's why.
