Chelsea news: Chilwell transfer hint, Jorginho praise, blow for Guardiola and Abraham message

It's the weekend!

However, there is no game for Chelsea because of the international break which might have come at the wrong time for Frank Lampard as his side have consolidated their place in the top four of the Premier League.

The Blues head coach will have been pleased to see Tammy Abraham get on the scorehseet for England, but above all else he will be hoping for no injury scares.

By the time the west London outfit return to action they would have had a fortnight to celebrate the 2-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace last time out.

And it's the small matter of a trip to the reigning champions of England Manchester City when they return to Premier League action and the Blues currently sit above Pep Guardiola's side in the table.

With that said, here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Chilwell to Chelsea?

The Leicester City left-back caught the eye during England's 7-0 thrashing of Montenegro on Thursday night as he claimed three assists in a stunning first-half performance.

Not only did it earn him the man-of-the-match award, but he seems a certainty to start ahead of Danny Rose at Euro 2020 next summer.

But did he also improve his chances of a future move to Chelsea at the same time?

After the game Chilwell took to social media to celebrate. "Great night," he wrote on Instagram.

That post earned some responses from the likes of Raheem Sterling, Tammy Abraham and Nathaniel Chalobah.

But interestingly, as spotted by fans on Reddit, Frank Lampard also 'liked' the post which has sparked some wild theories amongst supporters on social media.

Abraham's message to England fans

Speaking of Tammy Abraham, he had every reason to be happy following his first senior goal at international level.

However, his night was slightly marred when Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was booed by some of the England fans at Wembley Stadium following his introduction.

And the Chelsea striker has said it was "unacceptable".

"We had the incident today with Joe where we are all England players or fans," he said. "We need everyone to be together, times like that we need the fans to lift us up and help us really when we are going into tournaments.

"We said after the game it was unacceptable we don’t need that really he’s a great player. Things happen in football, things happen between teammates."

Chelsea winners and losers...so far

With a third of the season gone, football.london has decided to rate how the Chelsea squad have fared thus far.

Despite the Blues' position in the Premier League table as well as being in with a shout of reaching the Champions League knockout round, not everyone has been in good form.

Meanwhile, the likes of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount can be proud of what they've done up to this point.

Frank Lampard hopes to challenge Liverpool and Man City

Man City team news

Pep Guardiola has somewhat of a selection dilemma on his hands ahead of the game against Chelsea.

Bernardo Silva will miss the game as he is to serve a one-game suspension in relation to social media message about teammate Benjamin Mendy.

The Portugal international joins three long-term Man City injury casualties who won't feature against the Blues.

This list includes Leroy Sane, key defender Aymeric Laporte and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

It does mean that Benjamin Mendy could earn a recall at left-back after not making the squad for the 3-1 loss at Liverpool before the international break.

While Riyad Mahrez could slot into the front three in Bernardo Silva's absence.
