Chelsea news: Champions League boost, Lampard tells ace to copy Man City star, Jorginho praise

There was plenty to enjoy about Chelsea's win over Brighton on Saturday.

The Blues pretty much dominated from start to finish and head coach Frank Lampard's only criticism was that his team did not score more goals.

Chelsea had the chances, with Tammy Abraham missing a couple and Seagulls goalkeeper Maty Ryan in fine form.

It seems like Lampard's young guns are clicking into gear in the Premier League, but they have a big Champions League test to prepare for this week now.

Here we round up the biggest and best stories from around Stamford Bridge in the last 24 hours.

Kante injury update

Frank Lampard is waiting for the moment he can call upon N'Golo Kante on a regular basis.

And that moment may not be too far away now.

The French World Cup winner has made just three Premier League appearances so far this season and was absent from the matchday squad against Brighton.

Head coach Frank Lampard explained why afterwards in issuing an injury update on his dynamic midfielder.

Jorginho praise

Jorginho may have come in for criticism during his first season in England, but he is certainly making his mark on Chelsea and the Premier League now.

The Italian midfielder scored from the penalty spot as the Blues saw off Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

And he came in for particular praise from former Arsenal man and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

It's fair to say that Merson is a big fan.

Match action

It was a foregone conclusion wasn't it?

Brighton had never scored a goal at Stamford Bridge in the league, let alone drawn or won a game there.

So it was little surprise that Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners on the day.

Here's how the match panned out.

And here's how we rated the players.

Callum Hudon-Odoi advice

Callum Hudson-Odoi is back in the Chelsea first team and that is music to the Blues fans' ears.

The youngster is a firm fans' favourite and he tied himself down to the club when he signed a new long-term contract recently.

That will keep him out of the clutches of some of Europe's best clubs.

And head coach Frank Lampard has given him a word of advice as to how to make the best of his talent.

Read all about that below.
