Chelsea news: Cesc Fabregas on Billy Gilmour, Timo Werner statement, Kepa's message

Chelsea are into the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

An impressive 2-0 home win against runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool ensured that Frank Lampard's men are into the next round.

Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley either side of half-time were enough to see the Blues beat off Jurgen Klopp's men although a first half injury to midfielder Mateo Kovacic did put a slight dampener on the night.

Concentration now turns to a game against the Blue half of Merseyside with Everton the visitors to Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Frank Lampard on Billy Gilmour: He is small in stature he is huge in personality and talent.

Here is the latest news from Chelsea over the last 24 hours, including reaction from the win over Liverpool.

Billy Gilmour impresses

Young midfielder Billy Gilmour was given his chance to impress when he was named in the starting 11 against Liverpool by Frank Lampard.

The game was just the 18-year-old's sixth first team appearance in a Chelsea shirt and just his third start, but he took the chance with both hands, being named the man of the match by the BBC.

Chelsea fans showed their appreciation by singing his name in the closing stages of the game, while the Scotsman earned praise from teammate Ross Barkley after the full-time whistle.

Former Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas gave the lowdown on what makes him such an impressive young midfielder, and the Chelsea dressing room also had their say on his performance.

Frank Lampard on surprise impact

Frank Lampard believes Pedro could have a massive impact on the end of Chelsea's season after getting his chance in the starting XI once again.

After playing at the beginning of the campaign, the veteran Spaniard found it difficult to maintain his spot when players returned from injury.

However, the Blues have been hit with another injury crisis in the wing areas, with Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi having been missing for the last few weeks.

Kepa's message

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga took to social media to send a message to Blues' fans after making his first appearance for Chelsea in over a month.

The Spaniard had found himself dropped to the bench and replaced by Willy Caballero in between the sticks in recent weeks after a poor start to the season.

His last game before the match against Liverpool was the 2-2 draw against Arsenal back in January, but Kepa has found himself on the bench since then.

Timo Werner statement

RB Leipzig have made a statement on the future of Timo Werner, amid interest in the striker from a host of clubs.

The attacker, who turns 24 years old this week, has been in stunning form for the Bundesliga side over the last few years.

Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be two of the keenest admirers of the Germany international, though the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been linked.

Werner looks set to be ready for an exit in the summer, having previously stated that he will be looking to move on.
