Chelsea news: Centre-back dilemma, Tiemoue Bakayoko decision, Champions League scenarios

Frank Lampard will not be resting on his laurels.

Victory over Norwich last weekend would have been sweet, but the job is not done.

Sheffield United will pose a new threat this coming weekend and the Blues head coach will have his eye on the Champions League draw prior to that clash.

There are also question marks over the futures of a number of players.

Here we round up the biggest Chelsea stories from the past 24 hours.

Centre-back verdict

Antonio Rudiger is back in action, much to the delight of the Chelsea fans.

But the question remains over who should be his long-term partner.

Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma have been the partnership so far this season, but when Rudiger comes back in, which of the two partners him?

We took a look at the pros and cons of both.

Tiemoue Bakayoko decision

Frank Lampard has a number of things to sort out.

That's nothing new for a Premier League manager in the midst of the season.

Victory over Norwich City on Saturday has given Lampard and the Chelsea supporters a huge lift and they will be looking to build on that when they take on Sheffield United this weekend.

Will they have any European transfer sorted before then?

Here's what's on Lampard's to-do list this week.

Champions League draw

There is not long to go before Chelsea find out who they will meet in this year's Champions League.

The draw for the group stages takes place in Monaco on Thursday evening.

And after a year in the Europa League the Blues are back in the big time.

Chelsea are in pot one for the draw, so will miss some of the big teams in the competition.

Here we take a look at the best and worst case scenarios for the Blues.

Third kit latest

The 2019/20 season is underway and we've already been given our first glimpse of Chelsea's new home and away kits.

The home shirt has been a regular feature for the Blues, and while it wasn't necessarily the most popular upon its release, fans are certainly coming around to the design.

As for the away shirt, the white design with blue shorts was a smart choice with supporters getting an early glimpse of the jersey in the weekend's 3-2 victory over Norwich City.

But what about the third kit?

There has been some new information on that and you can read all about that here.
