Chelsea news: Blues rebuked for Reece James injury amid Aubameyang warning

Chelsea continued their resurgence under Graham Potter with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, cementing their place in the top four.

But as they travelled to Villa Park, it was revealed that they had been rebuked by the FA for their handling of Reece James.

The right-back is set to miss the World Cup after picking up a problem in the win over AC Milan, leaving Gareth Southgate pondering his options.

The news of the FA's unhappiness came as the Blues showed their support for women's team manager Emma Hayes and Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang revealed he had been sent a warning by Alexandre Lacazette.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from Chelsea.

Blues rebuked for handling of James

The Football Association have reportedly rebuked Chelsea for their handling of Reece James after his injury against AC Milan.

The right-back was forced off just after the hour mark during Tuesday's win over the Serie A champions.

But it has now been reported that the FA are unhappy that James was allowed to stay in Italy overnight, rather than returning home.

The Blues released a statement on Saturday which detailed the full extent of his injury.

"Following the knee injury sustained in our away match against AC Milan, Reece has received treatment from the Chelsea medical department and visited a specialist this weekend. After consultation between all parties, Reece will now undergo a rehabilitation programme and is expected to be out for eight weeks," it read.

Chelsea's first-team men's squad showed their support for Women's team manager Emma Hayes ahead of the clash with Villa on Sunday.

Hayes underwent an emergency hysterectomy last week amid an ongoing battle with endometriosis.

She has taken a step back from her coaching duties while she recoveries from the procedure. And the Blues squad donned special t-shirts at Villa Park to show their full support for the 45-year-old, who asked for "time and patience" to recover.

"I’m now in recovery and will need time and patience to return to full health. We also know the team are very special and we have no doubt they’ll do everything to maintain their high standards," Hayes said.

Lacazette's warning to Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that Alexandre Lacazette was left in a state of shock when he revealed he would be joining Chelsea.

The duo became close friends during their time at Arsenal, before both left the Gunners this year.

Aubameyang joined Barcelona in the January transfer window, with Lacazette returning to Lyon in the summer.

But the former was soon back in London, joining the Blues as a solution to their striker problem.

And he has now revealed that Lacazette greeted his move to Stamford Bridge with surprise.

The duo exchanged text messages when the deal took place, with Aubameyang now opening up on what was said.
