Chelsea news: Billionaire keen on buyout, Ashley Cole hint, Luiz and Mount's special bond

Chelsea are well into the Frank Lampard regime now.

After a brief tour of Ireland, the Blues are now in Japan for the second leg of the pre-season campaign.

The young players and former loanees have been re-integrated back into the squad, the the Blues boss is getting a clearer picture of who should be in his first team squad.

Here we take a look at the biggest stories doing the rounds from the past 24 hours.

Ashley Cole hint

There was a buzz of excitement on Wednesday when Ashley Cole posted a photo on his Instagram account saying he was heading to Japan.

Japan just so happens to be where Frank Lampard and Chelsea are on their pre-season tour.

Did that mean the former Blue would be hooking up with his ex-teammate and becoming part of the coaching set up at Stamford Bridge?

Here's what we know about the left-back's hint.

Luiz and Mount

A number of young players are expected to be given a chance to shine under Frank Lampard next season.

And to get the best out of them, Lampard will rely on his more senior players to help them get to grips with the demands of the Premier League.

One of the players he will turn to is David Luiz.

And the Brazilian has already been having an impact with one Blues youngster - Mason Mount.

The Russian oligarch took over at Stamford Bridge in 2003 and has overseen the most successful spell in the club's history.

His money and influence have led to a plethora of titles and increased the club's popularity around the world.

But there have been suggestions that Abramovich could sell up and move on for some time now and a new name has entered the frame as a potential buyer.

Rudiger injury update

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger looks to be on the comeback trail after undergoing knee surgery at the end of last season.

The German was forced from the field during the Blues' 1-1 Premier League draw with Manchester United in April, missing the final five games of the season, including the Europa League final victory over Arsenal.

The injury on his left knee meniscus required the player to go under the knife to get the problem rectified, and Rudiger has since been undergoing rehabilitation in order to be fit as soon as is possible. It is however, unknown if the German will be back in time for the season opener ironically against Manchester United.
