Chelsea news: Big financial change, Kante injury update, Eden Hazard's replacement

There is plenty going on at Chelsea at the moment.

The Blues ended their tour of Japan with a fine win over Barcelona on Tuesday.

And there are lots of rumours around who will be wearing what shirt this season, as well as who will be fit for the opening game of the campaign against Manchester United.

Financial news

Chelsea are one of the top 50 most valuable sports teams in the world.

Roman Abramovich has been in charge at Stamford Bridge since 2003 and the club's value has risen considerably in that time.

Chelsea are currently valued at $2.58billion - a 25% increase on their previous value in 2018.

And that has given them a place among the world's elite.

Kante update

Frank Lampard confirmed that it was his decision to send N'Golo Kante back to England but is hoping to have the Chelsea midfielder back with the squad soon.

The 28-year-old World Cup winner has not fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered before the Europa League final back in May.

While Kante has been with the squad through much of the summer, the Frenchman is yet to have any minutes on the pitch in Lampard's four games in charge so far.

After defeat to Kawasaki Frontale, the Blues got back on the horse with a fine win.

Lampard's charges saw off a strong Barcelona team 2-1 in their final pre-season game in Japan.
