Chelsea must block Manchester City's Raheem Sterling transfer trick amid Neymar PSG exit

In a shocking turn of events, it looks like Neymar Jr could be on his way out of Paris St German and headed to England. Despite the recent social media outbreak suggesting that Neymar reunites with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, reports suggest that Manchester City could be taking a serious look at luring him over to Manchester.

If the price is right, PSG could finally let Neymar go as they look to the future in their quest to win the Champions League trophy. His relationship with the Parisians hasn't exactly been all glitz and glamour. Back in 2019, the Brazilian openly admitted to wanting to leave the club for a return to Barcelona. Things didn't quite work out in his favour, but that didn't stop him from signing a four-year contract in 2021, extending his stay until 2025.

Chelsea may be looking for their marquee signing to mark the arrival of a new era, but Manchester City are also on the hunt for Champions League success. It'll be very interesting to see how this saga pans out - especially considering Chelsea's interest in Raheem Sterling. I guess Neymar's news could be a reason for City to sell Sterling to Chelsea, but Boehly mustn't rush this decision.

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi is tight-lipped on where the club stand with their record-breaking signing. He tells MARCA,

"Neymar part of the new project or not? We can't speak about this in public as some players will arrive, some players will leave the club. These are private negotiations".

Without a clear yes or no answer, there's the implication that PSG could be letting go finally. They have exhausted their use of Neymar since he arrived in 2017. They have been close to Champions League victory in 2020, where they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the final. Maybe PSG believes that this is as far as Neymar can take them.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, PSG's football advisor, Luis Campos has solidified PSG's position on Neymar for this summer - he wants to sell him.

With that being said, Chelsea have a clear chance to sign one of football's most talented players on the market. The fee will undoubtedly not be cheap but will be the lowest it has been as his current valuation stands at £67.5 million. Thomas Tuchel's relationship with Brazil's star player is something for Todd Boehly to pull upon. Tuchel describes Neymar as a talented, natural player and has nothing but positive things to say about his former player. Previously he mentioned the attributes that make Neymar one of the best players currently.

"He combines pretty much everything: speed, dribbling, passing, assisting, finishing and physical ability," Tuchel told Sky Sports.

"This is absolutely the whole package."

In a nutshell, the Chelsea boss describes everything that the Blues desperately need in a player if they are to compete. With Erling Haaland in the mixture, Boehly cannot afford to let Manchester City have a crack at Neymar. Whilst a move for Raheem Sterling is tantalising, you have to wonder, would a move for Neymar would be better suited?

The answer is yes.
