Chelsea morning headlines as twist emerges in Alex Telles transfer race, Kante resumes training

Here are the Chelsea morning headlines for Friday, May 29.

Blues miss out on Telles - reports

Paris Saint-Germain have beaten Chelsea to the signing of Porto full-back Alex Telles in a deal worth £22.5million.

That is according to a report in Teamtalk, via TodoFichajes, who say that the Brazilian will be joining the Ligue 1 champions this summer.

Chelsea are keen to reinforce the position due to the unclear futures of both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, neither of whom appear to be favoured by Frank Lampard long-term in the position.

Chelsea Q&A with Oliver Harbord

Indeed, the same report outlines how both players could be on the way to Italy - Alonso has been linked with a move to Inter, managed by Antonio Conte, while Emerson could be reunited with Maurizio Sarri at Juventus.

Chelsea likely for free TV

It is probable that at least at handful of Chelsea matches will be on terrestrial TV for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.

As outlined by football.london, Premier League football is set to resume from Wednesday June 17 with a third of the remaining 92 matches to be on free-to-air TV.

With nine matches left for Frank Lampard’s side this campaign, the chances are that at least a couple of those games will be broadcast without the need for a sports subscription.

Sky Sports will be showing 25 of their 64 matches in the remainder of the season for free while a further four games will be broadcast on the BBC.

This will be the first time since the league was created in 1992 that Premier League matches have been available on free-to-air channels.

Kante returns to training

N’Golo Kante has returned to Chelsea training and is undergoing individual sessions after being granted compassionate leave last week.

The Frenchman was exempt from returning to the Blues training because of safety concerns relating to coronavirus but as first reported by The Athletic, via football.london, he is now training individually and away from the main group.

The 2018 World Cup winner has returned to Cobham after missing the first three training sessions, as granted by the club, and now appears to be on the same path as the rest of the players.

Kante has made just 16 starts in the Premier League this season due to injury problems and it is said that the Blues will not put him under any pressure to accelerate his return to action.
