Chelsea morning headlines as Timo Werner signing-on fee is revealed, AC Milan eye Bakayoko move

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Friday, June 26.

Werner signing-on fee revealed

Timo Werner will receive a staggering £10million signing-on fee when he joins Chelsea, according to German publication Bild.

The RB Leipzig forward has scored 32 goals in all competitions this term and was courted by Liverpool before he agreed to move to Stamford Bridge.

Werner will officially join the Blues once the Bundesliga campaign is concluded this weekend and he is set to earn an annual salary of £14million, around £270,000-a-week.

That will make him one of the club's highest earners and Chelsea will also pay the German international £10million for signing with the club.

Milan in talks to sign Bakayoko

AC Milan are reportedly in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko for a cut-price fee this summer.

Bakayoko signed for Chelsea in 2017 after an impressive spell at Monaco but he has failed to impress at Stamford Bridge with recent loan spells at both his former French club and Milan.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Serie A side could look to sign the French midfielder on a permanent deal with Chelsea demanding around £20million for his services.

With continued uncertainty in the transfer market, Milan are likely to spread the costs of a deal across four years with incremental payments for the 25-year-old.

Batshuayi omission explained as striker nears exit

Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City illustrated the strength of having Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham as alternative threats at different points of a match.

But the exclusion of Michy Batshuayi from the matchday squad suggests he could be seeking pastures new when the transfer window reopens.

Both Giroud and Abraham have made big contributions for Frank Lampard’s side this season. The Belgium international, meanwhile, has struggled to get time on the pitch.

It looks increasingly likely the 26-year-old will be on the move in the upcoming transfer window with the Blues looking to offload the striker on a permanent basis.

Whether they can recoup the £33million originally paid for him remains to be seen but his omission against City was yet another indication that he isn’t part of Lampard’s long-term plans.
