Chelsea morning headlines as scouts deliver four transfer alternatives and £35m offer prepared

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Thursday, May 7.

Tomori reveals his toughest opponents

Fikayo Tomori has revealed the toughest opponents he has faced in his maiden Premier League campaign are Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

The Chelsea centre-back has made 22 appearances in all competitions under Frank Lampard this season -  who he spent the previous campaign with on loan at Derby County - and his standout display in blue was against the top-flight leaders earlier in the campaign.

"Firmino is probably the most difficult, along with Salah," Tomori told Sky Sports when asked who have been his most difficult opponents this season.

"When I played against Salah, I knew he was going to run and he had such an amazing season the year before. Every time he touched it, I thought 'this is a challenge, this is where I want to be playing'.

Alan Smith full Chelsea Q&A

"I was thinking this is the chance for me to prove I can play at this level. That Liverpool game at home, we lost but I think I learned a lot from that game."

Serie A giants in pursuit of Jorginho

Juventus are prepared to submit a £35million offer to Chelsea in order to runite Jorginho with Maurizio Sarri in Turin.

The Italian coach has worked with the midfielder at Napoli and Stamford Bridge and is keen to do so for a third time if Juve can agree a deal with the Blues, according to national.ae.

Chelsea signed Jorginho for £50m in the summer of 2018 but the 28-year-old has been unable to produce his best form at Stamford Bridge despite an upturn in his performances under Lampard.

Festival of football to be broadcast live

Chelsea supporters would be able to watch the club’s nine remaining Premier League games live as part of a proposal being considered under Project Restart plans.

According to The Times , broadcast partners and scheduling officials have held talks over almost 200 Premier League and Championship fixtures being shown live as part of a ‘festival of football’ to complete the 2019/20 campaign.

Three or four top flight and Championship matches could be televised daily at staggered kick-off times, although no Premier League fixture is expected to be broadcast on free-to-air channels in the UK with Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon retaining their rights.

The proposal does, however, hinge on government approval - Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to update the nation on the coronavirus situation on Sunday - and Premier League sides agreeing to play in neutral venues.

Chelsea's Ben Chilwell alternatives

According to 90min, Chelsea have identified Robin Gosens, Alex Telles, Matt Targett and Blas Riveros as potential alternatives to Leicester star Ben Chilwell.

The England international is seen as the ideal candidate to fill in at left-back as the future of current options Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri appears to be uncertain.

But Chelsea have drawn up a shortlist of other potential signings if the move cannot be pushed through.
