Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Saturday, November 7.
Ziyech loving life in London
Hakim Ziyech has made a fine start to life at Chelsea since his move from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
Now, the Moroccan international has explained that the reason for slotting in with such ease is the result of a collective effort from team-mates and off-field staff to make West London and Cobham feel like home.
“I’ve settled really well," he told the club's matchday programme for today’s game against Sheffield United.
"I’ve found my place, it feels like home and a lot of people have helped me – in the squad and also people outside the squad that work for the club.
“They’ve settled me really well.”
The 27-year-old overcame a pre-season knee injury to take like a duck to water in Frank Lampard’s side.
"On the pitch, I’m enjoying building an understanding with the other players, which is always something to look forward to,” Ziyech added.
“It’s a squad of big talents that are young, hungry and that’s the thing that I like – when people are hungry and want to achieve something."
Abramovich tipped to splash the cash once more
Chelsea may have spent more than £200 million in the summer transfer window, but owner Roman Abramovich is keen to spend big once again.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who was talking on The Blue View Podcast.
But he believes it will only happen if the footballing world returns to some normality following the Covid-19 situation.
Lampard compares Silva with Liverpool star
Chelsea head coach Lampard wants Thiago Silva to have a similar impact to that of Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool.
Experienced Brazilian international Silva was brought in to stabilise the Blues’ defence, a similar scenario to when Liverpool swooped for van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018.
Lampard puts him in the same bracket as van Dijk and Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.
Lampard said: “I think with the career he’s had, he certainly is in the bracket of top centre-backs like [Kompany and van Dijk].
“Most recent modern day teams that have achieved have those individuals or pairings defensively, that set those kinds of standards.
“When you look at the performances of Thiago in his early few games, with the impact I keep talking about him having, he can be a big deal for us.”
