Chelsea morning headlines as N'Golo Kante decision made and Kai Havertz transfer fall out

Here are the Chelsea morning headlines for Thursday, May 21.

The winners and losers from Havertz switch

Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz this summer - which could have massive knock-on effects at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old is also being tracked by Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City.

And the midfielder impressed when the Bundesliga returned last weekend - scoring twice against Werder Bremen in a 4-1 victory.

Havertz is thought to be most likely to stay in Germany – but should he secure a move to Stamford Bridge, who would be the biggest winners and losers?

Academy graduate Mason Mount and former Everton star Ross Barkley may suffer, as the most probable candidates to be pushed down the pecking order.

As with Mount, up and coming academy players call fall into that category, with a big-money signing potentially seeing their route to the first team blocked.

In the 'winners', the signing would undoubtedly be a coup for manager Frank Lampard and director Marina Granovskaia, who is keen to make a marquee signing following the club’s transfer ban.

Striker Tammy Abraham is also likely to benefit as Havertz would weigh in with goals and take some of the pressure off his shoulders.

Kante granted compassionate leave

N'Golo Kante has been granted compassionate leave by Chelsea - and will be missing training this week due to his fears over health and safety.

Players have been heading back to training this week as the Premier League aim to get the season restarted - and Kante returned to Cobham on Tuesday as instructed.

However, since then he has been absent, with head coach Frank Lampard and the club agreeing he could miss subsequent sessions, according to the Standard.

Moses linked with permanent Inter move

Winger Victor Moses could head to Inter on a permanent deal having impressed during his loan spell there.

The 29-year-old has made seven appearances so far this season across all competitions in Italy.

Reports in Italy suggest that Inter boss Antonio Conte is looking for a discount on the agreed €12 million release clause.

Inter are thought to have the funds to sign just one of the players currently on loan with them - either Moses or Cristiano Biraghi, a left-sided player belonging to Fiorentina.
