Chelsea morning headlines as Lampard sets challenge for Hudson-Odoi, big Kante transfer update

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Sunday, 27 September.

Inter dampen Kante talk

Inter chief Piero Ausilio has poured cold water on rumours that the club are lining up a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Milanese giants but the club have suggested this is not be the case, and do not believe the Blues would be open to a deal.

“Kante is an important part of Chelsea, I don't think he will be up for sale,” Ausillo explained to DAZN on Saturday, as per the Daily Mail.

Edouard Mendy deal details and when he could start

“We have eight important central midfielders, we will begin and move forward with them.”

Defensive errors overshadow comeback

Chelsea fans may have been pleased with their club’s comeback in the second half at the Hawthorns against West Brom, but the first-half collapse was the main talking point.

As outlined by football.london, it was the repeat of serious defensive errors which will be the main cause for concern for the Blues, who dropped two points at the newly-promoted club.

Marcos Alonso was responsible for two of the goals while Thiago Silva made a costly error for West Brom’s second strike.

It was a game of two halves that showed the two sides to Chelsea, and Frank Lampard will know that if they want to build on last season, they cannot afford too many more showings of that nature.

Lampard on Hudson-Odoi impact

The role of winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has come under scrutiny once again this season, with suggestions he may be allowed to leave Chelsea.

Amid an array of attacking arrivals at Stamford Bridge, Hudson-Odoi has been reduced to a peripheral figure in the squad, but he made an impact in Saturday’s draw at The Hawthorns.

A half-time substitute, Hudson-Odoi put in an impressive performance and also netted the Blues second goal as they came from three goals down to rescue a point.

"Callum gave me everything I asked and wanted from him in terms of his ability to go one v one, trying to take people on and he got his goal," boss Frank Lampard told football.london.

"That's what Callum needs to do. That's the sort of impact he can have for us and it has to be consistent. He gave himself a great platform now to continue in that vain. He'll be very important for us if he does."
