Chelsea morning headlines as Lampard makes Werner and Ziyech admission after £80.9m double deal

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Sunday, June 21.

Werner and Ziyech signings add to pressure - Lampard

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says he is ready for the added pressure on himself following the high-profile captures of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

The Blues have made a significant impression in the transfer market in recent months, securing a deal for Ajax playmaker Ziyech before winning the race for RB Leipzig striker Werner.

But Lampard admits added scrutiny on his position is “fair enough” as he attempts to bridge the gap between Chelsea and top two Liverpool and Manchester City.

Premier League Match Preview: Aston Villa v Chelsea

"Yeah it probably does, and I get that,” said Lampard ahead of his side’s trip to Aston Villa on Sunday. “There's pressure in the Chelsea job whatever.

"There are expectations to whatever degree, we're a well-supported club, well-followed club and scrutiny is big as we know. That's why we love the Premier League and why we're trying to do our best. So I don't mind the idea, I get it.

"We're trying to improve here. I'm under no illusions. I want us to improve first and foremost.”

Terry desperate to get one over on Lampard

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith believes John Terry will be eyeing a morale-boosting win over former Chelsea teammate Lampard when the sides meet at Villa Park on Sunday.

Terry and Lampard spent 13 years together as players at Stamford Bridge, but Smith insists the former’s winning mentality will be the driving factor as Villa try to haul themselves out of the relegation zone.

"He's got a strong affinity for Chelsea and his connections,” said Smith of his assistant. "You know, it's still his club. He knows all the people, he's got Frank [Lampard] and Jody [Morris] who are in charge of the football team now.

"He'll certainly be one of wanting to get one over them Sunday even though they are his club because he's a winner at the end of the day."

Nantes winger dreams of Chelsea move

Nigeria international Moses Simon admits that completing a move to Chelsea would be a ‘dream come true’.

Simon has impressed for Nantes this season, on loan from Levante, with nine goals and eight assists in 30 appearances.

But the 24-year-old admits he would love to follow in the footsteps of fellow countrymen John Obi Mikel, Celestine Babayaro and Victor Moses and turn out for the Blues.

"It is the Blues because I think I play their kind of football and will fit in well,” Simon told Goal.

"I like the way they play and I love them because of John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba.

"Should that happen, I’ll be so happy because that will be a dream come true for me."
