Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Monday, 31 August.
Kepa staying put
It’s no secret that Frank Lampard grew weary of Kepa Arrizabalaga’s mistakes over the course of last season. His form reached such a low point that veteran deputy Willy Caballero was the manager’s preferred option at times.
This has led to many goalkeepers being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge. Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and Dean Henderson are just two of the names who have been in the frame.
And a replacement for Kepa may yet join, but the Daily Mail report that the Spaniard wants to stay and fight for his place.
Perhaps his reported salary of £150,000 a week has something to do with it?
Sales to fund further purchases?
Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market this summer. While most clubs have made a signing or two at most, Lampard has been very active in reshaping his squad.
Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva have all signed on to help the Blues in their twin assaults on the Premier League and Champions League in 2020/21.
The spending may not be over either, with a deal for Kai Havertz still in the pipeline too.
The Blues may need to sell some players to help their lavish spending though, so Reece Chambers has taken a look at which men are realistic contenders for the exit door.
Chelsea lead race to sign Ajax starlet
While the signings Chelsea have made – and are still looking to make – are well known to football fans everywhere, the club is looking at emerging young talent too.
Take Amourricho van Axel Dongen, for instance. The 15-year-old Ajax forward won’t be known to too many people at this point, but he’s certainly in high demand.
The Telegraph claim that both Manchester clubs are keen to snap him up, but it’s the Blues who are in pole position to secure his signature.
