Chelsea morning headlines as Kai Havertz aware of £90m transfer plan and Milinkovic-Savic eyed

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Tuesday, 7 July.

Havertz aware of Chelsea interest

Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz is aware of interest from Chelsea, even though the club is yet to make an offer.

That is according to a report in German publication Bild, via football.london, which claims the player’s entourage is aware of the Blues’ interest.

Havertz is likely to cost £90million and the Express believe Marcos Alonso, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy, Emerson Palmieri and Danny Drinkwater could all make way to raise funds.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has also addressed the Havertz rumours.

"He's obviously a top player, but to carry on from my answer before I'm certainly not going to comment on other players at other teams," Lampard said, in quotes carried by football.london." And it cannot be our focus. So, nothing to say.

“No. No bids have gone in."

Chelsea interested in Lazio star

Chelsea have made a move for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via the Express.

The 25-year-old has scored five goals and provided four assists for the Rome giants this season as they aim to beat Juventus to the Serie A title.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs who are also thought to be monitoring the Serbian star.

It is said that the midfielder’s valuation of £90million has fallen but for Chelsea to stand a hope in the race, they must secure Champions League football for next season.

The Blues have already secured big-money moves for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of next term.

Lampard update on Abraham contract

Frank Lampard has given an update on Blues striker Tammy Abraham’s contract situation at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old is out of contract in two years and has fallen from prominence since the Premier League restart, with Olivier Giroud preferred up front.

Abraham has scored just once in his last 13 matches, with his form declining since a flying start to the campaign.

“I think on Tammy’s contract we’re not at a critical level with it and I’ll leave that between him and the club to discuss that side of it,” Lampard said of the striker, via football.london.

“I don’t think it’s something in his mind now. It certainly shouldn’t be. What needs to be in his mind now is these games we have coming up and how much he can give us on the pitch, whether he’s coming on as a sub or starting games.

"He hasn’t scored so much in the second half of the season and as a young player it’s always clear that when you have those periods there’s only one way out of it and that’s work and repetition in training and trying to make the most out of every moment you get.”
